Introduction:

Momo Andrea Destro (1979) is an Italian architect experienced in designing and managing complex projects combining sophisticate design with precise execution. He graduated with maximum marks and special distinction with a thesis on new urban typologies for emerging countries at the University of Florence. He won several international competition and has been award the third prize as Young Italian Architect in 2012. In 2012 he founded MDDM Studio in Beijing.

He started his carrier as architect collaborating with Studio Archea first in Florence and since 2008 in Beijing, China. In 2010 he became partner associate of Archea directing the office in Beijing. While in this position he has directed international teams of architects for numerous projects in Asia and North America, including private villas, cultural building, wineries, museums, hotels and large scale masterplan. He supervise the construction of several building including the Green Energy Laboratory in Shanghai, the Penglai Shangrila Winery, Chang-li King’s Winery and Museum and Liling Ceramic City. Under his direction, the studio won an international competition for a territorial strategy for the county of Yanqing.

In 2012, he founded MDDM Studio, an architectural practice active in China, Germany and Italy with different scales of projects including residential housing and public buildings.

Beside the practice of the studio he participate to forums and conferences organized by institutions such as the Chinese Ministry of housing and Urban-Rural Development or the Italian Embassy in China, and he regularly lectures at universities or cultural institutions such as Italian Institute of Culture of Beijing, University of Nanjing, University of Changsha, University of British Columbia, Today Art Museum.
Following his attitude toward the exploration of architecture he started the research program of Anti-Tectonics with Giannantonio Bongiorno and Eugenia Murialdo in 2013
